4 Season Tents – Winter Tents

If you are thinking about going camping during winter months then you really must look specifically for winter tents or 4 season tents as they are known. They are designed for all types of winter weather. Compared to 3 season tents, the 4 season tents are more sturdy and usually have extra poles available to strengthen the tent and help it to withstand the strong winds and heavy snow falls. These winter tents are designed to provide campers and expedition parties with shelter from the element whilst maintaining good ventilation.

The most popular winter tent design is the tunnel tent. It comes double layered keeping any snow out. They are usually quite big inside which is important as it is normal that during winter you will spend more time inside the tent than you would during summer camping. Also it is better to have a foyer area to store wet clothing and boots in as this helps with the overall ventilation.

Summits recommend buying a 4 season tent if you are at all likely to camp during winter.
