Description

OS Explorer map 369 shows Perth on the River Tay south to Kinross and Loch Leven, including the Ochil Hills.

The City of Perth has gained and lost City status several times, but was most recently made a city again in 2012. Perth is a very old city, being used by both English and Scottish kings, and King James I of Scotland was assassinated here in 1437.

The nearby Scone Palace was built in the early 19th century, but had previously been the site of an Abbey, in which the Scottish kings were traditionally crowned.

The Ochill Hills are rolling and often forested, providing opportunities for walking and off-road cycling.
